Welcome to the Bootcamp Training registration for the WOMEN Initiative under the Morgan State University Entrepreneurial Development & Assistance Center (MSU EDAC) effort. These boot camp series will vary in topic, and we can not wait for you to see our upcoming Bootcamp series in the new year and all of our future ones! They will be offered for 4 weeks (6-9pm ET) during the following months: September 2021, November 2021, January 2022 & March 2022 with future months to be decided. This initiative is for all minority women entrepreneurs. Completing this form does not guarantee acceptance into the series. Upon approval, you will be sent follow-up information for this event. The program includes a weekly 3 hour live virtual instruction for one month where you will receive templates, interaction with program managers, procurement officers, and small business liaisons. Registrants have a chance to apply for a $5,000 loan and gain an advisor for one-on-one business counseling provided by the Small Business Administration Women Business Centers located in Maryland.

On April 15, 1947, Jackie Robinson, age 28, becomes the first African American player in Major League Baseball when he steps onto Ebbets Field in Brooklyn to compete for the Brooklyn Dodgers. Robinson broke the color barrier in a sport that had been segregated for more than 50 years. Exactly 50 years later, on April 15, 1997, Robinson’s groundbreaking career was honored and his uniform number, 42, was retired from Major League Baseball by Commissioner Bud Selig in a ceremony attended by over 50,000 fans at New York City’s Shea Stadium. The March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom was partly intended to demonstrate mass support for the civil rights legislation proposed by President John F. Kennedy in June. Martin Luther King and other leaders, therefore, agreed to keep their speeches calm, also, to avoid provoking the civil disobedience which had become the hallmark of the Civil Rights Movement.
